Master French tens — including the famous Belgian-French difference.
The French tens have a quirky pattern from 70 onwards. Learn it cold — it's a top exam trap.
70-80-90 in France
70 = soixante-dix (60+10). 80 = quatre-vingts (4×20). 90 = quatre-vingt-dix (4×20+10). Belgium and Switzerland use simpler forms (septante, octante, nonante) — but DELF tests the French version.
- 75 = seventy-five (60+15)
- 82 = eighty-two
- 97 = ninety-seven
